Meet the Publisher: Amy Lamb

Amy_photo.jpg

In one way or another, Amy has been associated with advertising and communications for ever. This career started at the New Zealand Broadcasting School in Christchurch, where she studied for a Batchelor of Broadcasting Communications. Then she took a sales and marketing job with Radio Otago, where she stayed for 7 years but then found she needed a change.

And she certainly found something different – she joined the Air Force! That took her to Woodbourne, Whenuapai and Defence HQ in Wellington. Then she met Simon, and discovered a need to come back down to earth, took a job with Telecom Business in Christchurch, got married and started a family.

Then in July 2007, and now a mum of two, Amy then saw the opportunity to do something else with her skills when she purchased the Canterbury edition of Tourist Times. And, in December, 2007 she also purchased the Otago-Southland edition.

And she’s not looked back since. When studying for her BBC, Amy’s thesis “Offering Quality Service To Advertisers” was published. Her work made the claim that, more important than price or any other aspect of advertising is the need for the salesperson to show a genuine interest in the success of the customer’s business. And this is exactly what Amy sees Tourist Times doing for her customers – it is an affordable but effective way for anyone in the business to get their message out to the tourist.
