Deane has been associated with the tourism industry for as long as he cares to remember. For more than twenty years he was involved in the photographic, design and production of brochures and postcards for tourist operators and accommodation houses. This took him all over New Zealand and throughout the South Pacific. Prior to that he had worked in accounting and he even did a stint as a radio reporter.
In 1996 Deane purchased the license to operate Tourist Times based in his home province of Taranaki. Deane has had a long association with tourism activities in Central Taranaki. Since 1973 he has been on the committee of the Taranaki Pioneer Village. Currently he is involved in the Stratford Theatre Trust and the Stratford MultiSports Centre. He built the Tourist Times business and, in 2008, he sold it to Bruce. Of course, Deane is well known in the area, and Bruce asked him to stay on and continue his selling role. Deane’s on-going involvement with the business and in the area that he is so passionate about will see the Mid-West edition going from strength to strength well into the future. |
